    Mysql updating records

After looking into it we found out that several identical records had different primary keys. This led us to a conclusion that the system created a new entry in the archive table with an ID of the original record, which was already in the archive table.

Ok, this is somewhat complicated, so let me clear this up.

Instead, the My SQLi or PDO_My SQL extension should be used.

See also My SQL: choosing an API guide and related FAQ for more information.

Recently we stumbled upon a very strange bug that took us several hours to find. The first one is holding some temporary data which is constantly pushed to, updated and removed from this table. The difference is that we don't remove anything from the archive table.

We have two My SQL tables: "actions" and "actions_archive".

For example, when you use a program such as the mysql client, it functions primarily as a means for you to send SQL statements to the server to be executed.Let's say the proper "actions_archive" table looks like this: |---------------------------------------------------| | id_actions_archive | id_action | some_data | |---------------------------------------------------| | 100 | 150 | foo | | 101 | 151 | bar | | 102 | 152 | baz | |---------------------------------------------------| |---------------------------------------------------| | id_actions_archive | id_action | some_data | |---------------------------------------------------| | 100 | 150 | foo | | 101 | 151 | bar | (...) | 332 | 151 | bar | (...) | 637 | 151 | bar | | 638 | 152 | baz | |---------------------------------------------------| As you can see in the latter version of the table, we have duplicated entries. It's even worse because we probably lost some data. " The thing is that after restarting My SQL it determines the auto_increment value for each table using this algorithm (it regards only Inno DB tables): That's a very bizzare behavior, at least for me.Alternatives to this function include: Returns the number of affected rows on success, and -1 if the last query failed. If the last query was a DELETE query with no WHERE clause, all of the records will have been deleted from the table but this function will return zero with My SQL versions prior to 4.1.2.
