While it’s sometimes obvious whose initial idea is behind a song the collective input impacts through things like the tart-sweet harmonies on the former, or the dramatic arrangement of horns and vibes with the intriguing guitar and harmony parts of “Greens Of June”.
There’s a sublime attention to sonic detail throughout, with the glistening, luminous high tones of the arrangement to “Honey And Smoke” providing the perfect complement to lang’s lead vocal, and the smeared, Oriental-style string tonalities of “Supermoon” offering a brilliant evocation of Case’s suggestion that “nature isn’t magic, it’s just a mystery to us”.
Neko’s appearance is far from my main concern, as her incredible vocal and songwriting prowess are what will make her a legend, but it’s been on my mind.
But that doesn’t mean the first woman I ran into there, a 930 employee, didn’t warn me that “Neko looks hot, as usual” before I even walked into the door.
But I still love flirting, a good kiss, and a dramatic drunken connection, followed by a swift exit.
And with the 350-plus gigs we've played, I've had the potential to connect with many attractive men, at least in theory.
"Laura and I both responded immediately," Case said.
"There was no question." The upcoming album will consist of 14 new songs written and recorded over a two-and-a-half-year time period.
